‘Velayudham’ secrets revealed

Busy with the works related to ‘Velayudham’, his first film with Vijay which is to be launched at a grand function in Chennai today, director ‘Jayam’ Raja has revealed some interesting details on the movie.
“It is a film for the masses. Based on a story by late director Tirupathisamy, ‘Velayudham’ revolves around an ordinary man, who becomes a real hero for the sake of people,” the ‘Raja’ of remakes says.
“Vijay plays an enterprising youngster while Genelia is doing the role of a journalist,” the director says and adds: “Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan are also doing crucial characters. Comedy will be taken care of by Santhanam and Sathyan.”
Saying Vijay Antony has come out with catchy songs, Raja continues: “this is the first time for me to direct a big hero like Vijay. The decision (to work with Vijay) was made since he fits well to the role, which is about a larger than life personality.”

"Every actor would dream to win the coveted Oscar award. But for those in Kollywood, being part of a movie produced by Aascar Ravichandran is itself a delight", said Vijay.
Speaking at a function to launch his forthcoming film 'Velayudham', produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by 'Jayam' Raja, in Chennai today, the actor said, "Ravichandran has made grand arrangements for the function. I thank my fans for their support and patronage that has brought me to this level".
On his co-stars in the movie, Vijay said, "Genelia had acted with me in ‘Sachin’ before. A wonderful actress, she is making waves in Tollywood and Hindi films." Hansika reminds one of actress Kushboo in her heydays, he added.
Stating that he was against holding such grand events for his films, Vijay however said that he however agreed when the producer said the chief guest for the movie's launch are the actor's fans.
Director Raja, S A Chandrasekharan, 'Editor' Mohan, Vijay's wife Sangeetha, actresses Genelia, Hansika Motwani and others took part.

Promising director Krish's Allu Arjun-Manoj-Anushka starrer Vedam is all set to be remade in Tamil as Vaanam. R.B. Chowdary of Supergood Movies bought the Tamil remake rights. Simbu, acting alongside Manoj, will don the role of Cable Raju (originally played by Allu Arjun) in the Tamil version. Anushka reprises her role from the original.
“Yes, I have started shooting for Vaanam, which is the remake of the critically-lauded Telugu hit Vedam,” Simbu confirmed.
“I was impressed by Vedam, especially Allu Arjun’s characterisation. After VTV, I thought this role will be ideal as the character has mass appeal. At the same time, multiplex audiences will also love it. I also wanted to do something as my other projects were getting delayed due to various factors and it is almost 145 days since I shot for a film,” he said to a leading English daily.
He added, “The A team of technicians from Kollywood -- Yuvanshankar Raja, Antony and Nirav Shah -- are working on this project. Also, one of the producers is my friend Ganesh of VTV fame.”
There are reports that a mass kuthu song picturised on Simbu and Anushka will be added to the this movie, which expected to be a Diwali release. After completing Vaanam, Simbu will start shooting for Poda Podi and an untitled flick with Lingusamy.

After his mind-boggling performances as Veera and Deva in the Tamil and Hindi versions of ace Mani Ratnam's new extravaganza Raavanan/ Raavan, South Indian superstar Vikram is getting ready to begin his next film Vedi, to be directed by Boopathy Pandian.
Vedi is all set to begin on July 15, 2010. In this flick, Vikram dons the role of a cop, while slim beauty Ileana plays his lady love. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music. Tollywood ace comedians Brahmanandam and Kota Srinivasa Rao will play important roles. Ravi Raja (actor Aadhi's father) will play the antagonist along with Kota Srinivasa Rao.

Kollywood's master film-maker S. Shankar's forthcoming science fiction film Endhiran, starring superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles, has finally crossed the production stage. The last schedule was completed on July 7 in Chennai. To everyone's surprise, Aishwarya Rai touched Rajni's feet to seek his blessing on the last day of the shoot.
Reportedly the director is currently busy with the post production work, which is in full swing. Official confirmation on the audio launch is expected soon.

Director-actor Sasikumar's next venture for Vikram’s home banner The Real Life Entertainment is progressing briskly. The story revolves around ten characters including director Samuthirakani and producer A.L. Azhagappan; there are no heroes as such among them. Music is scored by James Vasanthan, while Kathir handles the camera. The latest buzz is that the film has been titled Aaga Chiranthavan, which means the best.

Ace director Mani Ratnam will launch actor Karthik's son Goutham in his upcoming project. Sources say Mani Ratnam will be working simultaneously on a Hindi and Tamil project after Raavan. The buzz is that Goutham will be playing the lead in the Tamil version and Ranbir Kapoor in the Hindi version of this film titled Pookadai in Tamil.
Reportedly the film is an urban love story and will be completely shot in cosmopolitan cities with a major portion being filmed in London. The rest of the star cast would be finalized shortly. Veteran cinematographer P.C. Sriram and music director A.R. Rahman have been signed for this film.

In a gruesome incident, a man killed his daughter's lover whom she had eloped with after being forced to marry against her wishes, in Tamil Nadu's Sivaganga district on Tuesday.
The girl's family did not approve of her relationship with him and got her married to another man against her wishes.
Two weeks later,18-year-old Menaka eloped with her lover Sivakumar. On discovering that she was living with him near a village near Manamadurai town, her father and brother tricked the couple to return to Sivaganga where Sivakumar was murdered.
Menaka, who was grievously injured in the attack, was admitted to government hospital at Madurai where her condition was stated to be serious, police said.

Karthi fans have to wait a little more to listen to the songs of his upcoming flick Naan Mahan Alla! Reportedly the songs will directly hit stores on July 14, 2010 and the film will grace theatres on August 13, 2010.
Naan Mahan Alla, directed by Suseendran of Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu fame, is expected to showcase the romantic side of Karthi in a script designed by Suseendran and backed by the music of Yuvanshankar Raja. And for the first time in their careers, Tollywood sensation Kajal Aggarwal will team up with Karthi in this film.
Durai Dhayanidhi's Cloud Nine Movies has acquired the release rights of this film. Reportedly, the film will be dubbed and released in Telugu simultaneously.
